ICSK BIDS FAREWELL TO MR. ARCHIE



"When there is focus and motivation, many great things can be achieved."




This holds true for one of the most dedicated ex-members of ICSK Board of Trustees, Mr. Archibald Menezes, former Vice-Chairman of the Board. A special farewell program was organized at the ICSK Senior Branch Auditorium on April 3rd, 2013, as Mr. Archie will soon be leaving Kuwait to settle in India. His vision and guidance while he was the head of the Sports Committee of the ICSK Board led ICSK to an unmatched 11 consecutive victories at the CBSE Kuwait-Cluster Sports Meet. The event was also an occasion to felicitate the sportspersons of ICSK and was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, Principals and Vice Principals of ICSK, Members of the Parent as Council and parents. Mrs. Sonia Mehta, wife of late Mr. Abhay Mehta who was the ex-Vice-Chairman and the ex-treasurer of the Board, was the guest of honour for the occasion.



The traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries was followed by a welcome speech by Mr. Vijay Karayil, Honorary Secretary of the ICSK Board, who spoke on the constant endeavor by the school to give the best to the students both in academics and sports.



Honorary Chairman, Mr. Ashok Kalra, in his presidential address, recognized the efforts of Mr. Archibald Menezes in inculcating the culture of sports in the student community of ICSK. He spoke very highly of Mr. Archie, acknowledging his contributions as a parent advisory member in the past. Mr. Kalra stated that though Mr. Archie’s contribution as the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees was remarkable, his consistent efforts to uplift the quality of sports at the ICSK would be remembered the most.



Mr. Rajan Daniel, Honorary Vice-Chairman, in his speech, traced Mr. Archie's rise within the Board from parent advisory member to the post of Vice-Chairman and highlighted Mr. Archie’s focus on encouraging the sportspersons of ICSK. Thanking him for his decade-long services to the school and the community, Mr.Daniel wished Mr Archie Menezes and Mrs Nancy Menezes all the best for their future plans in India. Mr Kuldeep Singh Lamba, a respected member of the Council of Elders of the ICSK Board, who has been guiding the school in its journey to the present, also gave a moving speech, highlighting Mr. Archie's contributions to the ICSK.



Honorary Chairman Mr Ashok Kalra, Honorary Vice Chairman Mr Rajan Daniel, Honorary Secretary Mr Vijay Karayil, Honorary Treasurer Mr Dinesh Kamath, Honorary Joint Secretary Dr Kamlesh Kumari and Member of Council of Elders Mr Kuldeep Singh Lamba presented a memento to Mr. Archibald Menezes. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Archie thanked the Board for their words of appreciation and hoped that the efforts at improving the quality of academics and sports would continue. He also hoped that ICSK would always set benchmarks in sports and academics in Kuwait. He urged the parent community to motivate their children to take up sports as it fosters team-spirit and improves their health.



The Annual Sports Report was read by the Head of the Sports Department Mrs Rajam. This was followed by the presentation of the prestigious Abhay Mehta Award for Best Performer at Sports and Games by Mrs Abhay Mehta and her son Mr Ankit Mehta to Master A P Vishnu. The Physical Education Department was recognized for its contribution to sports at ICSK which was followed by the distribution of various sports awards in different categories. The Championship Trophy was presented by Mr. Archie to the sportspersons of ICSK, with the confidence that it would return to ICSK each year.



The audience was also entertained by some melodious songs by ICSK's talented singers Master Tojan, Miss Julia Anil and Miss Vishnupriya who were highly appreciated. Recognizing their singing talents on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Mr Ashok Kalra encouraged them to pursue their talent further and promised full support.



The ICSK proudly recognized the basketball Under-19 team who won at the Kuwait-Cluster meet and participated at the National Level athletics meet at Jaipur. The ICSK teams of volleyball, chess, swimming, badminton, table tennis and the most talented Athletic Team who have made ICSK proud were also felicitated.



The Management, Staff and Students of ICSK wish Mr Archibald Menezes, all the very best.
