The Indian Community School, Senior warmly welcomed an impressive array of budding scientists and innovators on 24th October for the much-anticipated Gyanotsav 2024, an event dedicated to celebrating knowledge and creativity. This remarkable day witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 1,100 students hailing from 33 diverse academic departments within the ICSK, including disciplines such as English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Economics, Mass Media, Psychology, Home Science, Physical Education, Fashion Studies, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Sociology, Arts, Music, Dance, Arabic, French, Hindi, Information Technology, Business Administration, Geography, Accountancy, Marketing, Food Production, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Art, Commercial Art, Tourism and Applied Mathematics.
The ceremony was graced by eminent Chief Guest H.E. Ms. Karen Hideko Sasahara, U.S. Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Guest of Honour, Mr. Mohmoud Zaman, Head of the Technology Development Department, KFAS Centre, Kuwait and Special Guest H.E Mr. Mazen Al Essa, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs in the Office of The Crown Prince, Kuwait. Among the dignitaries were Mr. Shaikh Abdul Rahiman, Hon. Chairman to the Board of Trustees, Mr. Amer Mohammed, Hon. Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Ms. Geetika Ahuja, Principal of Aspire Indian International School, Mrs. Sabahat Khan, Kuwait Chapter Convenor, CBSE Gulf Sahodaya and Principal of Kuwait Indian School, Dr. Anis Ahmad, Principal of Salmiya Indian School, Fr. James, Principal of Indian English Academy School, Mr. K. Gangadhar Shirsath, Principal of ICSK Khaitan, Mr. Rajesh Nair, Principal of ICSK Amman and Mrs. C Sheeja, Principal of ICSK Junior.
The celebration commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony. The day began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a heartfelt prayer song that created a divine atmosphere, inviting blessings from the Almighty. The gathering then honoured the national anthem of Kuwait followed by the national anthem of the United States. To further enrich the cultural experience, the talented dancers of ICSK performed a captivating classical dance, showcasing the richness of Indian heritage.
Dr. V. Binumon, Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK, extended a cordial welcome to the gathering. In his address, he inspired the students to seize opportunities, embrace change and strive for excellence as they aspire to reach the pinnacle of their potential and wisdom.
The eminent Chief Guest H.E. Ms. Karen Hideko Sasahara, Guest of Honour, Mr. Mohmoud Zaman and Special Guest H.E Mr. Mazen Al Essa accompanied by Dr. V. Binumon participated in the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. H.E. Ms. Karen Hideko Sasahara commended the institution for providing a dynamic platform for students to express their passions and skills. She advised the young audience to acknowledge their parents for their unconditional love and selfless sacrifice. She also encouraged them to explore diverse cultures and opportunities that the world offers.
H.E Mr. Mazen Al Essa accompanied by Dr. V. Binumon presented a memento to the Chief Guest, H.E. Ms. Karen Hideko Sasahara, marking a significant moment of appreciation. As a token of gratitude, the Chief Guest received a beautifully crafted portrait painted by Mr. Suraj from the Department of Arts.
The young musicians of ICSK then took the stage, captivating the audience with a vibrant cultural song that resonated with their heartfelt expressions. In his address, Mr. Mohmoud Zaman acknowledged the contributions of each individual in making Gyanotsav a successful event and motivated the students to pursue every opportunity that could lead them to achieve greatness. Mr. Shaikh Abdul Rahiman, Hon. Chairman to the Board of Trustees accompanied by Dr. V. Binumon presented a memento to the eminent Special Guest, in recognition of his presence and support.
Scintillating dance performance presented by the young dancers captivated the audience. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Mrs. Sarita Umesh, Chief Coordinator of Gyanotsav 2024, signifying the official commencement of the exhibition. The unveiling of the Centre exhibit ‘Chandrayaan’ by H.E. Ms. Karen Hideko Sasahara marked the formal inauguration of the Gyanotsav 2024. This notable event underscored the importance of India's contributions to space exploration and science, while also inspiring the young minds to engage in the celebration of knowledge and innovation that the festival represents. The unveiling served as a powerful reminder of the nation's ambitions and achievements in the field of space technology.
The exhibition was organized into two sessions—morning and evening—allowing students from nearby schools, as well as parents and teachers, to partake in the festivities. The classrooms of ICSK were adorned with 450 exhibits comprising still models, working models, digital displays, subject-related puzzles, drama and on-the-spot exhibits innovated and designed by the students. Each project was a testament to the hard work, passion and curiosity of the students—qualities that are essential for innovation and leadership in the 21st century world. The projects encompassed a broad range of subjects, from scientific explorations to artistic expressions, each addressing critical global challenges. In addition to the exhibition, commercial stalls were set up in the courtyard by different departments, with proceeds going to charity, reinforcing the spirit of community service.
Gyanotsav 2024 provided an invaluable platform for the young minds of ICSK to enhance their confidence, leadership skills, and teamwork abilities, making it an inspiring opportunity for future innovators.
