On September 2nd, the Department of French at ICSK Senior organized the highly anticipated 'Cooking Without Fire' competition, an event that brought together students from Classes 9 and 10 to celebrate the art of French and European cuisine. Held in the school auditorium, the competition showcased creativity, teamwork, and culinary innovation as students took on the challenge of preparing delicious dishes without the use of fire.
The event, aimed at inspiring students to explore the diverse flavours of French cuisine, saw enthusiastic participation from 39 teams, each with a maximum of eight members. The challenge encouraged students to use raw or cold preparation techniques, focusing on fresh, high-quality ingredients that are hallmarks of French cooking. From gourmet sandwiches and vibrant salads to elegant desserts and colourful mojitos, the students wowed the panel of judges with a stunning array of visually appealing dishes that tantalized both the eyes and the taste buds.
The competition kicked off at 8:15 a.m. with Grade 9 students. The auditorium was transformed into a vibrant French-inspired venue, complete with a welcoming banner, beautifully decorated boards, and French music playing in the background, creating an authentic and festive atmosphere. The combination of creative culinary displays and the enchanting ambiance gave the event a true French vibe.
By 10:00 a.m., the French food fiesta was opened to teachers, office staff, and students, who eagerly sampled the dishes. The sale of these mouth-watering creations generated a profit of KD 34, which was generously donated to the school’s charity fund, reflecting the students' dedication not only to their culinary skills but also to giving back to the community.
The 'Cooking Without Fire' competition was a resounding success, showcasing a perfect blend of talent, teamwork, and innovation. The event celebrated the rich traditions of French cuisine while pushing students to think creatively about food preparation. With the winners yet to be announced, excitement continues to build as participants and spectators alike await the final results
