The 26th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Chess Tournament, held at the Indian Community School, Senior was marked by tough competition among 320 participants from 15 CBSE schools in Kuwait. Spanning four days, from 16th April to 20th April 2024, the tournament opened with a ceremonial inauguration on Tuesday, 16th April 2024. Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Secretary of CBSE Gulf Sahodaya and Principal of FAIPS – DPS graced the occasion as the esteemed Chief Guest.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the holy Quran, followed by a soulful prayer song presented by the school choir. The audience paid tribute to the national anthem of Kuwait. Dr. V. Binumon extended a warm welcome to the attendees, emphasizing the cognitive benefits of chess and commending the participants for representing their schools. The mentors and coaches were also lauded for their efforts in nurturing the students' strategic skills.
The esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, in his address provided insights into the tournament's rules and highlighted the significance of fair play and self-assurance. With his blessings, he officially declared the tournament open. Dr. V. Binumon honored the Chief Guest with a memento in appreciation of his presence and inspiration. Mrs. Mini Shaji Joseph, Deputy Vice Principal of ICSK, Senior concluded the formal proceedings with a vote of thanks, leading to the commencement of the competition. The gathering honored the Indian National Anthem.
As the tournament unfolded, the fervent participants engaged in thrilling matches, captivating the audience with their strategic maneuvers and unwavering confidence. Live results were broadcasted in the school auditorium and streamed via YouTube, enabling spectators to follow the action closely. Each move was met with anticipation, as the players navigated through the complexities of the game with resilience and confidence.
The winners emerged across various categories, showcasing their prowess on the chessboard. The Indian Community School, Kuwait claimed a clinching victory in the Under 11, Under 14 and Under 17 Girls category, while FAIPS - DPS triumphed in both Under 19 Girls category and Under 17 Mixed Category. Smart Indian School secured top position in Under 11 Mixed Category. Gulf Indian School bagged a victory in the Under 14 Mixed category and Carmel School Kuwait triumphed in the Under 19 Mixed category.
The 26th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Chess Tournament hosted at The Indian Community School, Senior led by Dr. Shyam, Head of the Department, Physical Education under the able leadership of Dr. V. Binumon was a grand success.
